Color Picker from Image
Find the color that caught your eye. Sample a local image, build a palette, and take the values with you.
Or drop a file here / paste an image. JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF · up to 50 MiB, 20 MP, 8192 px per edge.

Precise position & contrast
Click or tap the image. Focus it and use arrow keys to move one pixel; Shift + arrow moves ten. Coordinates refer to the sampled canvas, starting at its top left.
Ratio uses the selected color composited over this background. 4.5:1 is the WCAG AA threshold for normal text; 3:1 for large text. This preview alone does not establish accessibility compliance.

HEX works in most design apps. RGB mixes red, green and blue; HSL describes hue, saturation and lightness; OKLCH uses perceptual lightness and color intensity.
Optional: extract a palette
Choose how many colors to pull from the image. Palette size controls how many dominant colors we find. It does not change the exact color you click.
Dominant colors
Optional: choose Extract palette to find the image’s main colors.
Similar colors are grouped. Images with fewer distinct colors may produce fewer swatches.

Choose, sample, copy.
Open a local image, then tap a detail or use the coordinate controls. The loupe shows its neighboring pixels. Copy HEX, RGB, HSL, or OKLCH on demand. Select a dominant or recent color, or export the dominant palette as text, JSON, or CSS variables.
A practical color reference.
Your browser applies image orientation and converts into an sRGB canvas. Images are downsampled to at most 2048 pixels on the long edge and 4 MP for interaction. The page shows the exact sampled size. The palette uses a separate sample of at most 256 pixels on the long edge; it is an approximation, not an exhaustive color inventory.
Local files, finite limits.
Input is capped at 50 MiB, 20 MP, and 8192 pixels per edge. Headers are inspected within the first 1 MiB before native decoding; unusual headers may need re-exporting. Header and decoded size checks reduce resource risk but cannot guarantee protection from every malformed image. Without worker image support, source and output are limited to 4 MP.
The browser supplies a single still frame for animated files. Browser color conversion, downsampling, and alpha rounding can change sampled values; this is not a calibrated print workflow. No uploads, remote images, or saved history. Clear, replace, cancel, or leave the page to discard image work.
