Start with a clear mark.
Choose a simple, high-contrast source. Contain keeps the whole picture with transparent padding; cover takes a square crop from the center. Both keep the original proportions. The generator enlarges small sources to make every required size, so start with at least 512 pixels on each side for the sharpest large icons. The preview shows the 512 px output fitted to the panel; inspect the small PNGs at actual size before publishing.
Know what is in the bundle.
The ZIP contains 16, 32, and 48 px PNG favicons, a 180 px Apple touch icon, 192 and 512 px app icons, a three-size favicon.ico where supported, site.webmanifest, and installation instructions. If the browser cannot produce compatible 32-bit PNGs, the bundle omits the ICO and supplies PNG installation links. The ICO stores validated PNG images for modern browsers and Windows Vista or newer. ZIP entries use standard uncompressed storage with CRC checksums. For predictable Apple home-screen appearance, use an opaque source; transparent padding can appear black.
Install and adapt.
Place the files at your site root and add the generated links to your HTML head. Adjust paths if your site lives in a subdirectory. The manifest is an icon starter: edit the app name and add your own app settings for a PWA. These are ordinary icons, not maskable icons. Icons alone do not make a site installable.
Everything is generated locally. JPEG, PNG, and WebP input: 50 MiB, 20 MP, 8192 px per edge; main-thread fallback limited to 4 MP. Animation becomes one still frame, original metadata is not copied, and colors pass through an sRGB canvas. Exports are bounded to 4 MiB per file and 8 MiB per bundle. Clear, replace, cancel, or leave to release local image work.
