Choose pixels or a percentage of the oriented source. Lock the aspect ratio to keep the same proportions. Presets set an exact box and unlock the ratio: contain pads around the image; cover crops from the center. Neither stretches the picture. Enlargement is off by default: the entire output box shrinks if the image would otherwise need upscaling.
Choose a format for the job.
PNG preserves transparency without a quality setting. JPEG uses your matte color for transparency and padding. WebP supports transparency with adjustable quality. AVIF is offered only when this browser can encode it, and every result is checked for its actual MIME type. Quality runs from 0.5 to 1, with a default of 0.85. File size depends on image content as well as dimensions.
What a fresh copy contains.
The browser applies orientation and converts the picture into an sRGB canvas. Re-encoding drops original EXIF, GPS, color-profile, and animation data; animated inputs produce a single browser-selected still frame. The browser may add its own encoding metadata. This is not a forensic metadata-removal guarantee or a calibrated color workflow.
Input: 50 MiB maximum. Oriented source and output: 20 MP maximum, 8192 px per edge. Headers are inspected within the first 1 MiB, then decoded dimensions are checked. Unusual headers may need re-exporting; these checks are not universal malformed-image protection. Browsers without worker image support are limited to 4 MP source/output and yield between stages. Clear, replace, cancel, or leave the page to release image work. Your original file is never overwritten.
